Computational Study of Association of Dihydroxybenzoic Acids in Solution: Testing the Molecular Self-Association Computational Methodology for Format…
2020
Already validated methodology for self-association in solutions were used to evaluate if this method could also be used in other studies regarding association in solution. Three isomeric dihydroxybenzoic acids were used to calculate Gibbs free energies of association for homodimers, heterotetramers and associates with solvent molecules by using DFT calculations in multiple environments and having different conformations.
The reluctant polymorph: investigation into the effect of self-association on the solvent mediated phase transformation and nucleation of theophylline
2015
Little is known concerning the pathway of the crystallization of the thermodynamically stable polymorph of theophylline, form IV. Here we study the reasons why the thermodynamically stable theophylline form IV can be obtained only by slow, solvent mediated phase transformation (SMPT) in specific solvents, and whether the presence of prenucleation aggregates affect the polymorphic outcome. Solution concentration, polymorphic composition and morphology were monitored over time during the transformation from form II to form IV in several solvents. NMR and FTIR spectroscopy were used to detect prenucleation molecular aggregates present in the solutions. It was determined that theophylline self-…
Quantitative analyse der selbstassoziation von hämoglobinmolekülen anhand der konzentrationsabhängigkeit der spektren
1982
The dependence of the spectrum of oxygenated hemoglobin (Hb) on the Hb concentration was measured and it was found that Hb solutions do not obey Lambert-Beer's law. The absorption coefficient depends clearly on the Hb concentration. As all external parameters were kept constant except Hb concentration, the only way to explain our result is to assume that Hb molecules undergo self association and that this self association is reflected in the behaviour of the absorption coefficient. To get parameters which are suited to describe the self association of Hb molecules, two models were used. The first model is based on the idea that Hb associates according to the following equation: Hb + Hb ⇌ (H…
